Solutions for Departments, Workgroups, and Small Companies

Building Highly Customized Applications Since 1995

This is Where We Excel...

We specialize in custom applications for workgroups or departments within large corporations. But, if you have a small company of 50 - 200 employees, we can probably deliver exactly what you need as well.

Our applications are designed to help your organization work more efficiently - PERIOD!

We utilize a technology that is readily available to you, which greatly reduces your costs. You don't need to shell out big bucks for proprietary software that is inflexible and difficult to learn. We utilize Microsoft Access (part of the Microsoft Office suite) to build and deploy completely customized applications.

And, the end result is NOT what most folks would call an "Access Database". If you've ever used an MS Access database in the past, then you'll probably understand the following. (If not, please keep reading anyway, you'll get the main idea...!)

When we build an app, there are no "switchboards". There are no users opening tables in data-sheet view or writing their own (often incorrect) queries. There is no possibility that a user can change the design of the application, or the underlying data, causing things to stop working properly. We give all users easy to use screens, and menus. We even add methods to jump quickly from screen-to-screen, where it makes sense to do so.

We create all of the queries that you will ever need, as part of the ongoing design process. Before the new application is deployed, we create all of the reports that you want as well, and place both the queries and reports on a structured hierarchical menu. Any query in the application can be exported to Excel from the menu, and any report in the application can be exported to a *.pdf file from the menu.

We don't build typical "Access Databases"..!
In fact, we often turn down clients that want a very simple "Access database" and think that we can build it in 2 or 3 weeks. What we build takes a bit longer than that, and virtually all of our clients tell us that is was well worth the wait.

We have expertise where it counts..!

Our lead developer has over 30 years of experience with the Visual Basic development language, SQL Queries, the Windows API, object oriented programming techniques, and all versions of MS Access. He uses that experience to build complete applications. Oh, sure MS Access has a database-engine under the hood, and it can store and process data. Well, we know how to use that to your advantage. Your application may or may not be be "data-centric", but if it is, we can safely store and maintain your data along the way. And, we know how to do that the right way, first try!

That's because our developer also has a solid background in "Relational Database Design Theory". He understands and utilizes "Entity Analysis", and "Database Normalization" techniques, and our designs assure that the data portion of your application contains only clean, accurate and reliable data.

We cannot emphasize this enough..!
A solid understanding of data design philosophy is crucial. We've been asked time-and-again to re-design an application, (built by others) and the number one issue that we encounter is a completely uninformed and incorrect data design. If the underlying data structure is incorrect, then all reports, queries and information that you try to get out of the application will either be less than 100% correct, or completely unobtainable.

Working side-by-side - -
So, we start with a clean slate, and we take some time to learn your business and the process that drives the work. We start with management and ascertain what they desire, and then we work along side the employees that actually do the work. We learn what they need to get their job done.

Doing this allows us to understand the information (data) that employees both consume and create. With that understanding, we can then structure the information using time-honored methods and techniques. Along the way, we often find ways to automate small pieces of the process. Each small piece of automation adds up, and the over-all time savings can be significant.

We feel confident that the completed application will help your employees do their job more efficiently and effectively. But, we don't stop there. We have found that as employees get more familiar with the new application, they may suddenly realize that a small change could help them be even more efficient.

Going the Extra Mile...
So, we like to make the developer very available to you in the first few weeks after your new application is deployed. Typically, we can make minor changes quickly and effectively during this time, because the entire project is still very fresh in the developer's mind. So, we stay with you until the application is "tuned" to your needs.

And, six months down the road if you would like us to enhance or change the application, we can do that as well. Of course, some changes take more time than others. But, we are always interested in helping you get the most out of your new application.

We can provide custom menus, custom reports, exception queries, data validation, required fields, help menus, tracking of which user edited which fields (and when), application maintenance utilities, different permission levels for different users and much more. You can click here, for a more complete list of what we provide. You can click here, for a list of application features that we typically include.

User Training? - Can Do...!
We can also provide training for your employees, to assure that they know how to use the new application right away. In fact we recommend it. This reduces employee frustration, and helps employees understand the Ins and Outs of the new application. This makes employees more efficient and helps to keep them happier. Click here for more information about our training.

So, this is what we do. Completely customized applications for your department, workgroup, or small company, and we can even help your employees get up to speed quickly..!
