We will work side-by-side with your managers and employees, and we will ask a lot of questions. Along the way, we will help you to understand even more about what you want and need. Our design assistance is an iterative process, and we hone in on the issues until we feel we have a good understanding of what you need.
Then, we start some pre-beta design work, and we go back over the details and run "typical use" scenarios by the managers and users, assuring that we are on the right track.
Specifications Are Often Useless- - -
Yes, you read that correctly! We find that written documentation of your request (specifications) typically leaves a lot to be desired. So much so that we often prefer to work without them.
Written specifications do not allow the users the opportunity to think outside of the box. And, extremely detailed specifications do not encourage working side-by-side to solve potential issues along the way. We have found that developing the concepts of the application, side-by-side with users and managers has been crucial to our success.
Don't misunderstand us here. We're glad to see a high-level description of what you are wanting. But trying to detail every little nuance may not be the best use of your time. We will work with you as we go, to assure that the finished product does what you need it to do, and often it will do more than you first imagined. Our customers tend to love what we deliver.
Long Live The Worker Bee - - !
After we understand the desires of management, we then ask for a small group of key employees to work with. Some days we spend time with them, and other days we just call a few times to ask questions. But, the fact of the matter is that the employees that will actually be doing the work, and using the application, often have the most information to share with us. This information often impacts the design in very positive ways.
Total Confidence- - -
We are 100% confident that if you give us access to a manger/supervisor or two, and a few key employees, we can help you figure out what you really need.
Not just what you thought you wanted, but what you actually need to make the job easier!
